[Aion 4.0] 15th May 2013 Update

Today on Korean Test Server new “minor” patch was implemented (it’s simply called “Update 15th May 2013″, without any “number name”). It will inter alia add new 6v6 battleground, changes in some of the instances, new mythical grade wings, items changes and more! This update will come live on 29th May.

[NEW BATTLEFIELD]
(read more)

New 6v6 battleground was added. All players above level 61 can join this instanced battlefield, where you can kill mobs, other players and also occupy guard posts to earn points and win.

[INSTANCES]

1. New rating tables were added to most of the 4.0 part 1 and part 2 instances, which allows players to preview rating scores and see which one they currently have.

2. Re-entry times of the Sauro Supply Base and The Impenetrable Base were changed to “Resets at 9:00 AM everyday”.

3. Battle patterns and difficult in several instances were adjusted and changed.

[ITEMS]

1. Requirements of wearing some 65 lvl Abyss items were changed and now lower ranks can wear them (everyone above 1-Rank Soldier) [need confirmation]

2. New mythical grade wings were added to “The Katalam” instance loot table. They name is “Hyperion Wings”.

3. Empyrean Crucible items prices were changed.

4. And more…

[QUESTS]

1. The way of displaying special condition NPCs, quests and monsters on the map were changed.

  • Normal quest NPC / condition – emergence quest NPC
  • After mouse-over on the NPC: Normal NPC / condition – emergence quest NPC
  • Area of the quest: Normal monsters / condition – emergence quest monsters
  • After mouse-over monster dot on map: Normal monsters / condition – emergence quest monsters

[Aion 4.0] New 6vs6 battleground!

In the newest “minor” update of Aion 4.0, which today was implemented to Korean Test Server, new 6 vs 6 battleground was added (in Aion part 2 already 12vs12 battlefield was added “The Kamar Battlefield”).

[Aion 4.0] Wings of Hyperion!

In the latest 4.0 update from 15th May 2013, new mythical grade wings were added. Check out more detailed information!

Wings of Hyperion” are mythical grade wings, which can drop in 12-players end-game instance “The Katalamize”. Players obtain treasure box from the boss and at random they can get mythical gear and wings from it.

[K-Aion Event] Munin’s Footprints

Some time ago I reported to you about new Korean event, which focus on disappearance of lore NPC called Munin [see more: [K-Aion Event] “Munin disappeared”]. Today, I have some more info, how players can “track down” Munin. ;)

(all items names are unofficial and fan translated!)

Between 29th May and 12th June 2013 (reward NPCs will stay till 19th June).
For the every 30 min spent ingame players will receive said amount of “Munin’s Footprints”:
- 46-65 level character can acquire up to 12 per day
- 21-45 level character can acquire up to 6 per day
(daily limit resets everyday at 9 AM)

Also players can do event/daily quests (resets at 9AM) to get more “Munin’s Footpritns” (max 10 footprints from two daily quests).
Quests NPCs and reward sellers are located in Sanctum and Pandemonium.

Rewards

1. [Event] Mission compensation package – costs 6 “Munin Footprints”
Randomly one of:

  • Event hat
  • Event costume
  • Item allowing to transform into “Guardian” for 3 minutes (appearance only)
  • Poor Aeris weapon skins

Release of Aion 4.0 “Dark Betrayal” patch in NA region is fast approaching and it’s scheduled for release on 26th June 2013. Meanwhile, NCSoft West Team find a time to talk a little bit with Korean Aion Developer Mr. Seunguk Baek about both current game state as well as its future!

Q: What do you see as the defining difference between Aion 4.0 and previous versions of the game?

Baek: We’ve enhanced PvP a great deal, improving various aspects of it from one-on-one duels to full-scale fortress sieges.

Q: What part of 4.0 makes you most proud?

Baek: Definitely, the creation and introduction of the Gunslinger and Songweaver is the best feature. For the first time in 4 years, we’re adding two new classes! These two classes will lead us to content that is uniquely fun to Aion.

Q: Many players have expressed that they feel that they are “rushed” to end-game more and more with each new patch. Is the primary focus to get players to end-game as quickly as possible or are there plans to revitalize mid-level content?

Baek: The mid-range levels are opportunities for the player to learn the mechanics of the game and prep for end game content. It isn’t good to go through it too quickly, and it’s a bad experience if it drags on too long. The goal is to find the right balance, and we pay close attention to the leveling process.

Q: Will we see safe zones similar to those during vulnerabilities in Tiamaranta/Sarpan in Katalam? They have a tendency to encourage a very frustrating standard of PvP that was not previously possible in Aion. (Clerics/Chanters standing in safe zones spam healing other people out in the vulnerable area with impunity gets rather silly.)

Baek: The Neutral Zone system was first introduced in Tiamaranta and Sarpan. However, free movement was completely obstructed. This time, in Katalam, we tried to guarantee unrestricted movement but this created a problem at the boundary. In the new version, we have made adjustments so players in the Neutral Zone will not be able to use major support skills and so on to aid players on the battlefield.

Q: AP has become increasingly easy to get with each update. Have you considered revamping the way AP ranking work, or introducing more ranks?

Baek: The current method for acquiring Abyss Points has changed greatly from what was originally intended in PVP and RVR.it originally was. Rather than continuing to develop based on its current state, we want to look into reincorporating its original concept.

Q: Currently, there are several areas that have Neutral zones that border right on highly active PvP zones. This makes for several players using hit and run tactics where they attack and run into PvE zones. Are there any plans to make it so that people locked in combat must finish combat before going neutral?

Baek: The Neutral Zone is meant as a safe area for players who are weak at PvP. Another goal of the area is to protect those players who are truly running away to save their lives. The problem is being able to differentiate between the real weak players and those who are just taking advantage of the Zone. To prevent abuse, we have added a system that blocks players in the Neutral Zone from using attacks and friendly skills on people on the Battlefield. We will continue to monitor and make further adjustments as needed.

Q: Racial Abilities have been cited several times for controversy in the past. After two major updates, these abilities have not been addressed or changed. For instance, the Elyos Templar Racials consist of an extra shield counter and a 2 second Stun, while the Asmodian Templar Skills are a Bleed and 50% Life steal attack. This makes one race inherently weaker for that class. Are there plans to normalize Racial abilities or buff weaker Racial abilities?

Baek: Racial abilities were designed to give special characteristics and flavor to the races. However, it quickly became a problem, and we adjusted it over the course of many version updates, starting with the ones that had the biggest disparity based on player feedback. We continue to monitor these and will adjust as necessary.

Q: The Rookie server and limited rifts greatly restrict lower-level PvP. Are there plans to revitalize lower-level PvP?

Baek: During the Korean launch, we encountered the issue of low-level players being ganked by higher level players so we put our efforts into making a safe haven for low-level players. We later realized that by taking this approach, there were fewer opportunities to enjoy PVP in the game. Now we are refocusing on bringing the fun of PVP to all levels.

Q: Rifting saw a major overhaul in the past year. Will there be any further changes to this system?

Baek: This is in the early stages of development, but we are working on a Rift that connects to another dimension. This Rift will be unlike anything players have seen before, and will contain end-level content.

Q: Many players feel that crafting is not profitable based on what they are able to produce and they time it takes to get the needed materials. Are there plans to make any changes to the crafting system or the recipes?

Baek: We’ve spent a lot of time improving crafting in 4.0. There are now craftable—and tradeable–items that are comparable to items available in dungeons and or the Abyss. We took into consideration the difficulty of acquiring materials and crafting costs, and decided to make the craftable items tradable. We will adjust this as necessary to ensure there is no loss of value.

Q: Many players have expressed frustration when receiving items that are untradeable that their class cannot use. Some instances drop boxes that contain class-specific weapons. Will older instances such as Dragon Lord Refuge be revamped to have class-specific boxes? Will new instances have class-specific boxes?

Baek: We are considering various looting methods. Our goal is to make the looting mechanism a special characteristic of instance dungeons. For example, while a player who is satisfied with an item with average stats can select the right item for their character, the option to receive a random item of higher quality offers a potential advantage to undertaking relatively big instances earlier.

Q: The last motion cards were added in 2.5. Will there be any additional motions beyond Ninja/Levitate?

Baek: The next update is currently in the planning stages, so I can’t say much about it. We hope to add more motions and costumes for North American players to enjoy. Please look forward to it.

[Aion 4.5] New “AetherTech” Class!

After a long time of waiting (after all 4.0.1/4.0.2/4.0.3 were released in Korea in December 2012 / January-March 2013), we finally have an official info about 3rd of new classes planned for the Aion!

It will be called “Aethertech” and basically it’s a tech “mount” your character is using. It is using both short and long-range attacks with rail guns, blades, electric whips, gigantic fists, and even rocket launchers!

Korean PTS of 4.5 will lunch at 29th July 2013 so hopefully we will see more detailed information soon! For now take a look of official trailer and screenshots! :)

[Aion 4.5] New hairstyles

If you are already bored with hairstyles which were added in the Aion 4.0, we have a good news for you! Newest update 4.5 adds 4 new hairstyles (two for men and 2 for woman). Check them out!

Aion 4.5 adds two new kinds of hairstyles: two-tone hairstyle, which you can change one colour so you character will be a balayage. Second one for woman is very interesting as it is an very long hair which reaches longer than a waist! Very sexy ;)

[Aion 4.5] New Honor Points system

In the latest Aion 4.5 update, new PvP ranking system was introduced – Honor Points system! That does this system change? Basically, it “force” high ranking players (1-Star Officers + ) to be active, otherwise they will lose theirs Honor Points (and rank) everyday! No more “farming a millions of AP and staying lazy” ;)

Then this new system went live on Korean 4.5 PTS all current Abyss Points and ranks were calculated again. The more AP you owned, the more Honor Points you got (AP items stored in the bank/inventory weren’t calculated so you must exchange them before this change goes live on normal servers if you want to have a higher rank).

Players who are below level 50 or have less than 30,000 AP didn’t receive Honor Points.

After the change every player will have two systems to calculated Abyss Ranks.

  • Soldiers Rank 9 to 1 are still calculated based on Abyss Points (these ranks do not own Honor Points)
  • Officers 1-Start to Army Governor are calculated based on Honor Points (they still own Abyss Points but they are not the base to calculate 1-Officer + ranks any more)

How to obtain Honor Points

  • Sieges – in Katalam / Danaria (win +100-300 points, lose +50-150 points), Upper Abyss (win +100-200 points, lose +50-100 points)
  • PvP Instances – Ophidan Battleground 6vs6 (up to 50 points), Kamar Battlefield 12vs12 (up to 50 points), Eternal Battlefield 24vs24 (win 150 points + 50/20 points from quests)
  • Arena of Glory – (up to 300 points)
  • Instances – Killing Hyperion in Infinity Shard (600 points, divided for all 12 players sp 50 each).
  • Quests – Blood Marks daily (3 points each) and weekly quests (100 points)

How many Honor Points you lose

  • Players don’t lose Honor Points, if they are killed by other player or monster.
  • Players lose Honor Points automatically everyday – The higher is your rank (Officer 1-Star + ) the more Honor Points you lose everyday (so players need to be active to not lose theirs ranks).
  • Players with Rank 9-1, don’t lose Honor Points (coz they have none) and also theirs lose of Abyss Points while being killed by other player was decreased.
  • Buying Abyss items only decrease your Abyss Points, not Honor Points.

[Aion 4.5] Greater Stigma upgrade system

Latest 4.5 introduced a new system which allows players to “upgrade” theirs Greater Stigmas to higher level without the need of buying a new item!

In Aion 4.5 players no longer need to buy a new ranks of theirs Greater Stigmas! Now they simple can upgrade them! :)

We will use Gladiator’s Shark Strike

But buy Shark Strike II players need to go to NPC and exchange his Shark Strike I + 6375 Abyss Points.

Players need to give back the lower level Stigma and pay the price differences between previous level and higher level. For example:

Shark Strike I costs 6875 AP
Shark Strike II costs 13250 AP

So if player give back the Shark Strike I, he has only to pay the difference – 6375 AP!

[Aion 4.5] New Abyss Armors

In the newest Aion 4.5 update not only Korean developers add new system to calculate higher Abyssal ranks (see: [Aion 4.5] New Honor Points system), but they also added new Abyssal gear for higher ranks. Check out few facts regarding these items and theirs stats with appearance! :)

  • Items can be worn by 4-Star Officers and higher
  • Items have several stats option for each classes (for example chain have version with magical or physical stats), tho they are not class restricted
  • Items have different resistance stats (for example some focus more on magical resistance and others on magic suppression
  • Items have 6 manastone slots and can be enchanted to +15
  • Some armours have different appearance (cloth / leather) depending on version of the armour
  • Abyssal Augmentation is possible – full lvl 2 Augmentation of armour costs 468,879 Abyss Points
  • Competing whole set activate set bonus with PvP stats

[Aion 4.5] Update 4th November 2013

Today Korean servers will receive a new update! What it will contain? Changes in Katalam pvp quests, some skill changes, some instance changes, but also new Hall of Fame!

1. Hall of Fame

Two new locations have been added to honour the most famous among the Daevas! You can find here NPCs who sell a bunch of new costumes, wings and more!

2. Skills

  • Gladiator’s skill “Force Cleave” magical dmg was increased.
  • Assassin’s skill “Blinding Burst” will now apply up to 6-8 enemies.
  • Ranger’s skill “Arrow Deluge” now apply up to 6-8 enemies and its range was been increased from 5 m to 7.
  • Sorcerer’s skill “Ice Sheet” now apply up to 6-8 enemies
  • Cleric’s skill “Memory Loss VII” effect was increased.
  • Gunner’s skill “Mind Manipulation IV” effect was increased.
  • Bard’s skill “Magic Boost Mode” was another boost added beside current boost.
  • More changes in Raider’s skills.

3. Quests
Number of Battle Marks obtained from Katalam PvP quests was been increased.

4. Items

  • Amount of Supplements needed to increasing the manastone socketing rate, were changed.
  • Battle Mark gear is now available to be “packaged” (?)
  • Problem with the “Greater Stigma Package” (that one of the Raider’s stigmas couldn’t be obtained from it) was been fixed.

5. Instances

  • AP rewards in Katalam Battlefield and Eternal Battlefield have been increased.
  • In the Inner Upper Abyss Fort instances, players can obtain “Box of Antiquities”, which contains Relics and Ancient Relics.

6. Divine Power

New system has been added

  • If it is successful applied it increased a PvP stats (by little bit). You can apply it to the accessories, but items need to be above level 50. Not all items can be enchanted this way.
  • You can get this item from the boss chest in certains instances (like Fire Temple, Adma Stronghold, Theobomos Lab, Dark Poeta, Draupnir Cave, Beshmunidr Temple Hard, Rentus Base, Tiamat Fortress, Suro Supply Base, ect.). Everyone in the party got one from the box.

[Aion 4.5] Hall of Fame

Yesterday, new feature “Hall of Fame” was added to Aion 4.5 update. Find out more information about this prestige locations and that is offering!

Two new prestige locations “Hall of Fame” have been added to Marchutan Piory (Asmo) and Kaisinel Academy (Elyos). Only players with Abyss Rank “Officer” and higher can entry. You can buy a prestige remodels, wings and supply here. They required AP and kinah to be bought, also there is only a limit amount of them available.

GENERAL (and higher) ONLY SUPPLY/ITEMS
These items can be bought only by players with AP rank General and higher. You need AP and kinah to buy them and there is a daily limit how many can be bought.
